On the afternoon of April 22, Yang Zewei, Deputy Secretary of the District Committee and District Mayor, led a team to Qingliangfeng Town and Yuqian Town to conduct investigation on flood prevention work. He stressed that we should seriously study and implement the important instructions of General Secretary Xi Jinping on flood prevention and disaster relief work, fully implement the requirements of provincial and municipal deployment, and adhere to the principle of putting people and their lives first. We should “make the first move” in flood prevention and spare no effort in building a “safety embankment” and effectively safeguard the life and property safety of people. Deputy District Mayor Luo Aifen attended the investigation.

The Shuangxikou Reservoir is a key project included in the “100 Billion Project” in the province, which is of great significance for local flood regulation and storage as well as enhancing the flood control capacity of the basin. After conducting an on-site inspection of the surrounding environment and operation of the reservoir, Yang Zewei inquired in detail about the flood control indicators, including reservoir capacity and safe water level, etc. He pointed out that spending the flood season safely is of great importance in flood prevention work. We should strengthen the daily management of reservoirs, improve long-term mechanisms, enhance the flood control capacity of reservoirs during the flood season, and ensure the safe operation of reservoirs. Yang Zewei and his delegation also visited Fangyuan Village in Yuqian Town, in order to gain a detailed understanding of the progress of the Tangwu Mountain Pond Reinforcement Project. There, he listened to the relevant work reports and reminded the project leader to strictly control the quality, progress and safety of the project, and take multiple measures to promote production and effectiveness.

During the investigation, Yang Zewei emphasized that we should attach importance to our thinking, establish bottom line thinking and extreme thinking, and implement various flood prevention measures with a sense of responsibility and urgency, that is, “never rest assured”. We should implement in detail the various flood prevention measures, further strengthen our responsibilities and strictly implement the system of duty and information reporting. We should strengthen daily inspections and dynamic reporting and comprehensively weave a flood prevention safety net. We need to further strengthen measures, strengthen monitoring and early warning and closely monitor changes in rainfall and flood conditions. In addition, we need to strengthen material reserves and personnel allocation, improve various emergency plans and continuously enhance flood prevention and emergency response capabilities.
