During the May Day holiday in 2024, our district promoted comprehensive shopping centers, traditional commercial enterprises, and car companies through the issuance of consumer vouchers and significant merchant discounts.

To accelerate the release of automotive consumption potential, a new round of car consumer vouchers, totaling 1.35 million yuan, was issued in our district starting from April 27. Additionally, during the May Day holiday, merchants sparked consumer enthusiasm by hosting car shopping festivals and offering several discounted cars. The Hangzhou Jinchang Baoshun BMW store launched a 10,000-yuan gift package promotion, while Zhitian Automobile offered a May Day limited promotion with subsidies of up to 21,000 yuan.

The combined effect of government-issued consumer vouchers and merchant discounts showed significant promotional results. During the holiday period, BMW achieved a turnover of 3 million yuan, and BYD sold more than 50 new energy vehicles.

Starting from May 1, our district issued a total of 1.7 million yuan in consumer vouchers, invigorating traditional commerce. Boosted by themed events and supermarket promotions, sales data of large supermarket enterprises showed varying degrees of increase, with customer traffic rising month-on-month. Lianhua H86 Supermarket launched a series of online and offline promotions such as vouchers for purchases above a certain amount and May Day scratch cards, leading to a brisk trade of daily necessities. During the holiday period, five large complexes—Guomao Building, Fortune Center, Jinbei Baolong, and others—achieved a turnover of over 24 million yuan, a 3.4% year-on-year increase. Four major supermarkets—Century Lianhua, Walmart, Yonghui Supermarket, and others—reached sales of 6.21 million yuan, maintaining the same level as the previous year.

To effectively capture the consumption season of the May Day holiday and create a strong consumption atmosphere, the District Commerce Bureau fully mobilized and integrated various resources in the district, including culture, leisure, and commerce, organizing a series of consumer-friendly events. These included the Dinosaur Food Festival at Tiaoxi Times Life Plaza, the Qingshan Lake Baolong Food and Folk Culture Festival, the Nanyuan National Calligraphy and Painting Exhibition, and the “Zhefeng Youli -Le Youli” First Youth Basketball Open at Wanhua Plaza. By combining sports, culture, calligraphy, painting, and food, these events created a trendy, interesting, and diverse consumption experience, warming up the holiday consumption market and igniting the city’s lively atmosphere.
