Recently, a journalist visited the Mountain Games, where the 11 multi-story buildings at the entrance have been topped off. The exteriors, predominantly white, present a simple and elegant appearance. This area will soon house the Mountain Games Reception and Service Center.

The Mountain Games Reception and Service Center project is one of the key projects in Changhua Town. It covers an area of 15 MUs (2.47 acres) with a total investment exceeding 80 million yuan. The center includes a ticket hall, reception center, office building, pedestrian shopping street, and a team restaurant with 160 rooms that can accommodate 1,200 diners. As of now, all decoration and renovation works are nearly complete, with an expected opening in mid-May.

“The interior finishing work is also nearing completion, with over 300 workers from more than 10 teams on-site doing the final touches. Our custom-made furniture is ready to be installed as soon as this phase is done,” said Xu Mina, Deputy General Manager of Hangzhou Mountain Games Tourism Development Co., Ltd. She added that the reception center, as a crucial supporting facility, serves functions such as visitor services, command and dispatch, and management and operations, acting as the “face” of the scenic area. Its completion will further enhance the supporting infrastructure and elevate the scenic area’s image.

The Mountain Games is the largest outdoor theme park in East China, featuring over 20 popular experiential projects like Jungle Flying Train, New Zealand Scooter, Grass Skating, and Sheep Show. In 2023, it received 250,000 visitors, but very few stayed overnight.

To further retain visitors and enhance the quality of reception services, the Mountain Games initiated the construction of a reception and service center in 2022. Unlike traditional visitor centers, the Mountain Games Reception and Service Center integrates specialty dining, leisure entertainment, and hotel accommodations. “We aim to create a small tourist destination to increase the Mountain Games’ visitor capacity and reception ability, allowing guests to experience a one-stop service for dining, lodging, sightseeing, shopping, and entertainment,” said Xu Mina. This approach is expected to extend day trips to two- or three-day visits. Additionally, this center will serve as a hub, connecting to other attractions such as Tuankou Hot Springs, Daming Mountain, 8300 Outdoor Sports Center, and Dalong Bay, thus creating a comprehensive tourist loop.

The Mountain Games and the 8300 Outdoor Sports Center are key nodes in our district’s “Zhexi Sky Road Outdoor Circle” and the two main tourism centers in Changhua Town. Moving forward, Changhua Town plans to leverage this opportunity to accelerate the development and integration of resources, projects, and elements in these two areas. The goal is to enhance facility functions, create two high-end quality flow conversion centers, and establish two exemplary tourist loops that connect points and lines, and combine points and areas, thus forming an integrated development pattern featuring “center-led, cluster-linked, demonstration-driven”.
